Marija Salecic
Biography
Marija Salečić is a Croatian soprano currently in her final year of singing studies at the Music Academy in Zagreb, under the tutelage of Professor Martina Gojčeta Silić.
She made her debut at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, starring in the lead role of Alkmene in the Croatian opera Amfitrion by Boris Papandopulo.
Marija performed Four Songs from the symphonic suite Floresta do Amazonas by H. Villa-Lobos with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Tomislav Fačini, in the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall. Additionally, she performed at the Zagreb Music Biennale alongside the contemporary chamber ensemble ASMANGU.
Marija received a full scholarship for a masterclass with Thomas Hampson and Melani Diener in Waiblingen, Germany. At the final concert of the masterclass, she had the opportunity to perform with the Württemberg Philharmonic of Reutlingen, under the baton of Vlad Iftinca. She also received a scholarship for the Oper Oder Spree masterclass, where she won the Grand Prix as the most successful participant in 2022. As part of this masterclass, she performed with the Preußisches Kammerorchester Prenzlau, conducted by Vinzenz Weissenburger.
Marija has also attended masterclasses with Krešimir Stražanac, Eva Blahová, Srba Dinić, and Hervé Niquet, among others.
Furthermore, she won first prize at the Lav Mirski competition in Osijek in 2024. Marija is the winner of the Mrs. Bohanec Award in 2024. During her studies, she participated in numerous student projects, earning her four Rector's Awards. Additionally, she is a scholarship recipient from the municipality of Smokvica.
Marija collaborates with young conductor Mateo Narančić, with whom she has performed Vivaldi's Gloria and various operatic gala concerts multiple times. She has also worked with conductors: Ivan Šćepanović, Ivan Josip Skender, Matija Fortuna, and Mladen Tarbuk, as well as stage directors: Krešimir Dolenčić, Saša Anočić, Lars Franke, and Mathias Behrends.
In 2022, she had the honor of performing at the office of the President of the Republic of Croatia.
